Hi, I'm Courtney a business owner and mom of 3 who was rushing through life with my head down busy doing the day-to-day tasks while building my business. I was so caught up in the doing that I was no longer being. I remember taking a moment to look at myself in the mirror one day as I was getting ready and actually SAW myself for the first time in years. I was so surprised to see the woman looking back at me.
Time had changed me, I was so busy during that time that I didn't see who I was becoming. I was a midlife mom with grey hair, wrinkles, fine lines, and saggy skin. I made a decision that day to stop rushing through life, honor my body and who I had become and accept the aging process. I began to practice leaning into a softer way of living. Slow down and simplify to feel better, become more confident, and enjoy where I am now with my family.

Episode 14, splash your face with cold water. Hopefully, you had the opportunity to listen to Episode 14 with Dr. Alicia in regards to helping families ease stress and anxiety. And during that conversation she happened to mention and maybe you caught it, how we had spoken about splashing our face with water. And unfortunately, I had to cut a portion of that information out due to some things going on in the background. But I wanted to make sure you all were able to hear it because it was great information. So I'm going to read to you a post that she posted Dr. Alicia at reset three on Instagram about the vagus nerve. So she mentions if you want to start your day off with a simple tool to activate your day listener, activate your diving reflex and she states when the skin of our face gets splashed with cold water, our Vegas nerves start firing on all cylinders. This is an evolutionary adaptation in the reptilian part of our brain to slow down our heart rate and shunt blood to our digestive system. When we are getting ready to hibernate picture of frog hiding in the mud all winter. He wants to slow his heart rate down via extreme measures. So he is the ultimate energy conservation mode. This is accomplice through the vagus nerve. The great thing about this is it's easy, simple. And you will reap the rewards of an activated Vegas nerve today, healing and growth of your tissues failing in total alignment with your mind, body and biofield. So that again is a post that Dr. aleesha with the reset three program posted on Instagram in regards to the vagus nerve. So I wanted you all to practice that that is your movement snack for the week. So you can take this a step further. And I want you to think about getting into a hot shower and changing the temperature within your shower. So you're going to go from a hot to a cold shower, because this is going to help create movement within your body. So when you expose yourself to cold temperatures, your body constricts blood supply. And then when expose it to heat, the vessels will dilate and expand. So when you change these temperatures, from hot to cold, you are dramatically improving the tone of the blood vessel walls. So if we're thinking about movement, and remember, I talked about moving more throughout your day, every day and looking at movement as a whole, rather than just exercising. So how can we move our body in different ways, this is a great way by changing up the temperature of the water within our shower. It changes how our blood vessels are working in our body. It also gives the body a greater adaptability in driving blood into the areas that it needs to. So if you're only moving in specific ways, and you're only doing things in specific ways, you aren't able to move the blood through different vessels. And I'm thinking deep within two capillaries. So we're trying to force blood back into all regions of our body and this will help with that it also improves the lymphatic flow. So the lymphatic system depends upon muscle contraction to move through the system. We are going to increase that muscle contraction by doing these hot to cold which will help improve the lymphatic flow and when we increase lymphatic flow, we're able to release toxins out of our body we get rid of environmental toxins and metabolic waste products. It helps to get it out of the skin. It helps you feel fresher, can appear healthier, younger and it helps with the immune system. I want you to try it. I want you to let me know how it feels. It's really invigorating. Definitely try it and fortunately for those of us here in Southwest Florida summer time Shower water is not that cold but start working with it now and then as winter comes try to keep going with it because you will start to feel the difference and it is a great thing for your body first thing in the morning to help wake you up and like Dr. Alicia said it will stimulate the vagus nerve. Hope you enjoy it. Let me know how it felt over at forum fitmom community and also make sure to follow us on raising underscore healthy humans on Instagram. Have a great week.
